Schuchinsk is a resort town located in northern Kazakhstan, home to 45,000 people. It's well-known for its stunning natural beauty, including evergreen and birch forests, crystal-clear lakes, and fresh, clean air. Schuchinsk is the main town within the Burabay Nature Park, which is part of UNESCO's World Network of Biosphere Reserves.
Thanks to its excellent climate, Schuchinsk is a true cross-country skiing town. You can enjoy skiing here from November all the way through April. This city has been the main place for training Kazakhstani skiers since old times and still is. It's the hometown of famous Olympic champion Vladimir Smirnov, World Championship medalist Nikolay Chebotko, and many other athletes who have won medals in international competitions.
The National Ski Center in Schuchinsk is a modern and impressive sports facility. It includes two ski jumping hills, a 200-bed hotel, a medical center, a swimming pool, and sports halls. There's also a dedicated biathlon shooting range and aextensive ski and rollerski cources. The rollerski course notably wide, between 6 and 12 meters across. Plus, 16 of the ski courses have FIS homologation, meeting international standards for competitions. The center is also equipped with its own professional TV studio and an electronic timing system.
This top-tier center has already hosted significant international events. It was the venue for the FIS Roller Ski World Cup stages in both 2023 and 2024, Summer FIS Ski Jumping Grand Prix, FIS Eastern Europe Cross-Country Ski Cup, and many other FIS competitions. It also hosted the IBU Youth&Junior Biathlon World Championship.
The first ever FIS Roller Ski Asian Cup season will come to an end at the National Ski Center in Schuchinsk from 4 to 7 September.
We expect athletes from all over Asia to come to participate in exciting starts, as well as to reward the strongest Asian roller skiers according to the results of the season.
- All athletes from countries whose NOCs are members of the OCA (The Olympic Council of Asia) and whose NSA are members of the FIS are eligible to participate in the FIS ROLAC.
- Each National Ski Association from Asian region may enter an unlimited number of athletes per each FIS ROL Asian Cup competition.
- NSA not from the Asian region may enter an unlimited number of athletes, but they do not score Asian Cup points.
- The Overall Asian Cup winners of Men and Women categories receive the FIS Roller Ski Asian Cup trophy, as well as 2 sets of medals for the three best ranked athletes (Women and Men)
- The Overall Roller Ski Sprint Asian Cup winners of Men and Women categories receive the Sprint Asian Cup medals sets (1-3 places)
- The “Winner Nation” of the ROLAC season receives a trophy
